I can testify that learning math and preparing for math tests is not an easy task. If you have kids and they are like me, then they will need all the help they can get. What you, as a parent who cares about your child’s education can do, is turn to software and see if there is an application out there that can lend a helping hand.

Luckily enough, there is just such an application out there – the Sawmill Software Corporation-developed application Your Math Buddy. This is an application that has been specifically designed to help children learn math at their own pace and get ready for timed math tests. Thanks to this application your child will learn to think quicker and solve timed tests a lot faster.

Your Math Buddy can help several math students at once, which makes it a great tool for teachers as well. The teacher can create multiple student accounts for different ages and grade levels. Customized settings (like level of difficulty) are available for each student who uses Your Math Buddy. The teacher can also print out math worksheets for timed math tests.

Your child may have problems with math and may need help improving his/her math skills, but he/she will definitely not have any problems using the Your Math Buddy application. This is because the application has an easy to figure out interface that will not pose a problem to anybody.

Before you go get Your Math Buddy and put it to the test, there are some technical details that you may want to look over:

Download – the download weighs in at 34.7MB. On a less than spectacular internet connection it may take a bit of time for the download to complete. But then again, you know what they say – good things are worth waiting for.

Installation – installing Your Math Buddy is a straightforward process that goes along smoothly and rapidly. You can install the application on several versions of the Microsoft-developed Windows operating system, including Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7. During the installation process Your Math Buddy politely asks if you would like to create a desktop and Quick Launch shortcut, which I found to be quite nice. The fact that you cannot specify where Your Math Buddy will be installed, I did not like so much. I also did not like that Your Math Buddy asked for a system restart.

Limitations – the trial version is limited to 3 uses.

The bottom line is that Your Math Buddy is an easy to use and useful application that will help children improve their math skills, help them think quicker, and solve timed math tests faster. It is an application that will help children understand basic math facts and build confidence in their math skills.
